Our Backstory
(IT’S A BIT WINDED BUT A GOOD READ!!)
Growing up in a fabrication/shop environment, I always knew I wanted to build things while providing for others at the same time… I just didn’t know what to build yet. Combining different design elements and styles together to create something new had always intrigued me, and I already had fabrication behind me… but nooooo design skills. So, after a tram ride at Universal Studios Hollywood, I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to do - I went to production design college for film and tv sets.
When I ask someone “How’s your day going?” and they respond with “Living the dream” – my classic response is “Your’s or somebody else’s?”. This really had me thinking in my 30’s “whose dream am I living”, and “what do I want to be when I grow up?”.
Over the last 20 plus years I had lived someone else’s dream, until one day I finally decided that it was my turn to live my own.
With hopes of designing film/tv sets, my wife and I thought, “Why don’t we use our house as a chance to build a portfolio?” and that was it!
Furniture design/fabrication provided me with a sense of fulfillment in creating something and blending different mixed medias with different art styles was the dream I always wanted to live.
So here we are - just a few short years later typing up an”About Me” page for William Taylor Furnishings, or WTF Concepts, a Custom Furniture Fabrication and Design Operation.
